surviving ourselves magazine :: Exile on Main Street

surviving ourselves magazine :: Exile on Main Street: "Seccession is in the air. The Red state / Blue state gulf is now greater than ever. This fissure will not heal. To vote for Bush was to vote for more of the same policies that have marked the last years, the unfunded mandates, the rapid deterioration of the enviroment, the crumbling economy ; to vote for Bush was to endorse the massive disaster that the go-it alone foreign policy in Iraq is bringing us daily. "

People from all walks of life, conservative and liberal like the idea of secession

Mises Economics Blog: Secession Movement Gains Steam

Mises Economics Blog: Secession Movement Gains Steam: "The Washington Times today covers the emerging blue-state secession movement. It started as a joke but seems to be working its way towards becoming a real proposal. Meanwhile, journalists are discovering strange new artifacts from American history: 'While secession is often thought to be a Southern phenomenon, Northern leaders repeatedly threatened secession in the 19th century"

It is encouraging that some the left as well as the right see the value in local and individual freedom

Hud's Blog-O-Rama: Letter From Texas

Hud's Blog-O-Rama: Letter From Texas: "Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede
from the Union. (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.) "

We would not dispute the Texas right to secede, we would dispute that it is the only state with such a right. (there were 13 original Colonies that were independent nation States according to the Treaty of Paris and all the remaining state joined of their own free will). There are many justifications for the right of secession in each state.
